In this week’s Throwback, we dial back the clock 28 years to August of 1997 and visit Taos, New Mexico, which hosted the final round of the AMA/NATC Observed Trials Championship.

Pictured is GasGas rider Ray Peters negotiating a rocky section in the scenic forest of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Peters had a strong weekend in Taos that year, finishing runner-up to Jess Kempkes. Peters also finished second in the AMA/NATC final standings to Geoff Aaron.
