According to a report from Reuters, Liberty Media is set to earn approval from the European Union antitrust authorities in its bid to acquire the MotoGP.

Reuters recently reported that Liberty Media, the U.S.-based owner of Formula One, is set to receive approval from the EU Commission for its €3.5 billion ($3.8 billion) acquisition of Dorna Sports, the owner of MotoGP.
Liberty Media announced 2024 that it would acquire an 86% stake in MotoGP, while Dorna’s management would retain the remaining 14%, but the deal requires permission from the EU Commission.
The EU Commission has been investigating since December 2024 whether the bid would break anti-trust and competitive laws, with concerns that with Liberty owning both F1 and MotoGP, it could cause a monopoly on broadcast rights and shut out rival broadcasters.
“There is a very large and growing market for audiovisual entertainment well beyond sports, and the transaction will enhance MotoGP’s ability to compete in this highly competitive market,” a Liberty Media spokesperson explained as quoted by Reuters.
A final decision from the EU Commission is expected by July 1.
